Steubenville mayor, council races get decided

Steubenville voters approved all eight charter revisions and re-elected Councilmen Tracy McManamon and Royal Mayo during the recent elections. McManamon won decisively with 421 votes, representing 91. 32 percent, while Mayo secured a narrow victory with 138 votes against Republican challenger Marc Barnes, who received 109 votes. Mayor Ralph Petrella triumphed over write-in candidate Chuck Burch, garnering 2,296 votes. Councilman Joel Walker emphasized the importance of updating the charter, which had not been revised since 2014, calling for more frequent reviews every two years to prevent significant changes from accumulating.

Mayo expressed gratitude to his constituents, stating the results reflect their appreciation for his work over the past four years. The charter revisions passed with a better than two-to-one margin, signaling strong community support for the proposed changes.
