HEAP Winter Crisis Program starts Monday
The Ohio Department of Development and Jefferson County CAC announce the start of the Home Energy Assistance Winter Crisis Program for income-eligible residents beginning Monday. This program offers assistance for heating bills until March 31 or until funding is exhausted, targeting households threatened with disconnection or those already disconnected. To qualify, applicants must have a gross income at or below 175 percent of the Federal Poverty Guidelines for families of up to seven members. Residents must schedule appointments with the Jefferson County CAC, providing essential documents such as recent energy bills and proof of income. Households enrolled in the Percentage of Income Payment Plan Plus can also receive help towards their PIPP payments if they meet the criteria.
This program aims to alleviate the financial burden of heating costs during winter months, especially for vulnerable populations. For further assistance, residents may contact the Jefferson County CAC or visit the state’s energy help website. The initiative underscores the state's commitment to supporting low-income households during the winter season.
