Buckeye students told You Matter
David Kohout, a motivational speaker and founder of Talk is Cheap, inspired students at Buckeye Local Junior/Senior High School on October 14, reinforcing the message that they matter. His program, sponsored by the Jefferson County Juvenile Court, highlighted his transformation from a troubled youth to a successful advocate for young people. Kohout candidly shared his struggles with low grades, substance abuse, and suicidal thoughts, stressing the importance of making positive choices. He distributed free bracelets and “purpose pebbles” to serve as tangible reminders of their worth. Kohout also discussed bullying and the vital role of healthy relationships, identifying five essential elements: love, trust, self-respect, understanding, and forgiveness.
His mission, built on more than 20 years of experience, is to inspire a million students and adults across the globe. He concluded with a poignant story about a classmate's battle with cancer, urging future generations to make a difference. Kohout's website, SITPOG. com, offers additional resources for those seeking support.
