Follansbee man enters plea in sexual abuse case
Timothy P. Iverson, 44, of Follansbee, entered a Kennedy plea to sexual abuse charges just after a jury was selected to hear the case. Judge Jason Cuomo accepted the plea, resulting in a sentence of 10 to 20 years in prison along with 50 years of supervised release. The plea agreement required Iverson to register as a sex offender and follow strict limitations on contact with children. More than 80 other counts of third-degree sexual assault were dismissed as part of this resolution.
The victim, now an adult, supported the plea and was prepared to testify in court. Prosecuting Attorney Allison Cowden and Iverson’s attorney Pete Kurelac negotiated the agreement, which underscores the legal system's commitment to addressing crimes against minors. The case involved significant investigative efforts by West Virginia State Police Cpl. Rob McMahon, who provided testimony regarding the allegations. This resolution emphasizes the importance of legal accountability in cases of sexual abuse.
