Story for dogs

Toronto, OHLocal News

The Public Library of Steubenville and Jefferson County teamed up with Wintersville to launch a StoryWalk initiative at the local dog park, which will be available throughout October. The featured book, "Love Is My Favorite Thing" by Emma Chichester, tells the heartwarming story of a special dog. Pages of the book are displayed on the park's fence, allowing visitors to read while enjoying time with their pets. After completing the StoryWalk, dog owners can bring their pets to the Schiappa Library to receive a complimentary edible dog treat. This initiative not only promotes reading but also fosters community engagement and interaction among dog owners.

The collaboration highlights the role of local government and libraries in enhancing public spaces and literacy efforts. Events like this can positively influence community bonding and encourage families to spend time outdoors. Such programs can also pave the way for future literacy initiatives that incorporate local parks and recreational areas.
