Students follow their Broadway Dreams
Anthony Pearce and Mia Loy, seniors from Steubenville High School, attended the Broadway Dreams theater program in New York City from June 30 to July 5. They participated in a summer intensive that included vocal and dance training, culminating in a performance after just five days of rehearsals. The program featured notable Broadway professionals, including choreographer Spencer Liff and performer Alex Newell, who provided mentorship and guidance. Pearce and Loy, active members of the SHS Thespian troupe, have performed in various productions and aim to study theater post-graduation. Loy highlighted the valuable connections made during the program, while Pearce emphasized the knowledge he plans to share with their peers.
Broadway Dreams, a nonprofit organization based in Georgia, focuses on making theater training accessible to talented youth. Since its inception in 2006, it has reached over 20,000 students worldwide and disbursed more than $1. 5 million in scholarships. The experience has further inspired both students to pursue careers in musical theater.
