New modular home underway at JVS
Jefferson County Joint Vocational School's carpentry students are actively constructing a modular home that will include three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a variety of living spaces. Program instructor Dave Lucas noted that the project began in December and has reached the interior wall stage. Students are not only gaining practical experience, but they also collaborate with peers from the electrical trades program, while HVAC installation is overseen by a certified professional. Lucas highlighted the importance of the project for students, providing them with the opportunity to apply their training and contribute positively to the community. A structural inspection is anticipated in the spring, marking a significant milestone for the project.
Once completed, the home will be put up for sale, although a specific timeline for the sale remains undetermined. This project serves as the school's fourth modular home endeavor, showcasing the skills and dedication of its carpentry program. The initiative reflects a commitment to vocational education and community engagement.
