Steubenville Schools strengthen safety measures
Steubenville City Schools have enhanced security by installing metal detectors at Steubenville High and Harding Middle schools. The MIS Security’s RONIN System allows for efficient screening, requiring students to pass through detectors each morning. Principal Aaron Newman reported a smooth transition, with students showing flexibility and understanding of the new procedures. Although approximately 700 students may face minor delays entering the school, they recognize the collective benefit of the safety measures. Harding Principal Bryan Mills affirmed the district's proactive commitment to safety, thanking parents and staff for their support.
The school has also implemented a policy restricting cell phone usage during school hours, aligning with state regulations. This policy aims to improve the educational climate and minimize distractions, which is crucial for student well-being. Both principals noted the positive attitude of students during this transition, showcasing a strong school community spirit.
