Hotel mold progress is noted
The Wingate by Wyndham hotel in Steubenville is addressing mold and structural problems identified during a state fire marshal inspection last month. Health officials reported that the hotel provided pre- and post-mold remediation test results, with the breakfast area reopening after passing food safety tests. However, the pool area remains closed as it is not ready for guests. Jefferson County Health District Commissioner Andrew Henry acknowledged the results as a mixed bag but expressed optimism about the progress made. The fire marshal mandated a third-party mold assessment to ensure the hotel meets health and safety standards, following initial complaints from guests.
Wingate's management is actively working on remediation efforts, as indicated by the improvements in several rooms. The hotel must continue addressing these issues to regain full compliance and ensure guest safety. This situation highlights ongoing concerns about health standards in local accommodations.
