Woman charged with child endangerment

Toronto, OHLocal News

Hayden Martin, a 28-year-old Wintersville resident, has been charged with child endangerment after her 3-year-old child nearly drowned at a village swimming pool on June 7. While Martin left the pool area, the child wandered into a section that was 4. 5 feet deep. A patron quickly rescued the child, and lifeguards administered CPR before the child was airlifted to a Pittsburgh hospital. Police Chief Willie McKenzie confirmed that the child has since recovered from the incident.

Signs at the pool explicitly warn that small children should always be accompanied by an adult, emphasizing the importance of supervision. This incident highlights ongoing concerns regarding pool safety regulations and parental responsibility in public spaces. The local community is likely to discuss measures to enhance safety at recreational facilities. Authorities may consider additional signage or increased lifeguard presence to prevent similar incidents in the future.
