The Steel Valley Regional Transit Authority will convene a special board meeting at 4:30 p. m. Wednesday to discuss its insurance plan and state funding, emphasizing the importance of securing financial resources for public transportation. This meeting is part of broader efforts to enhance transit services in the region. Concurrently, the Jefferson County Engineer’s Office has outlined a busy work schedule, which includes chip-sealing projects in Toronto and Knox Township, spot paving on County Road 43, and bridge replacements on County Road 11 and Knox Township Road 289.

Today, Greenbrier Road will be closed for maintenance from 8 a. m. to 2 p. m. , with residents encouraged to contact Weirton Public Works for more information at (304) 797-8500, extension 3002.

On Thursday, paving will occur on the southbound lanes of Main Street in Weirton, from Maryland Street to Hudson Street, with flaggers directing traffic. Motorists are advised to reduce speed and anticipate delays due to the construction. The project timeline may adjust due to inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances. These ongoing infrastructure improvements aim to enhance road safety and transit efficiency in the area.
