Soil, water election slated for Jefferson County
Jefferson County will conduct an election for supervisors of the Jefferson Soil and Water Conservation District from September 28 to October 27, 2025. Residents aged 18 and older can self-nominate, with petitions available at the district office. Candidates must gather at least 10 signatures from local landowners and submit their petitions by 4:30 p. m. on August 22.
The board, made up of five supervisors, guides efforts to manage and conserve the county's soil and water resources. Responsibilities include identifying local conservation needs and coordinating assistance from various government and private entities. This election allows residents to engage actively in local environmental issues and decision-making. The district plays a crucial role in addressing conservation challenges in the region. By participating, candidates contribute to the sustainable management of Jefferson County’s natural resources.
