System switches planned for water plant project in Weirton

Toronto, OHLocal News

The Weirton Area Water Board is actively improving its water treatment plant to increase its capacity from 4 million to 8 million gallons per day. This $40 million project, managed by Triton Construction, is currently over 40% complete, with substantial completion scheduled for January. Utilities Director A. D. “Butch” Mastrantoni explained that maintaining service during construction necessitates toggling certain systems on and off.

Residents can expect four to five switchovers between late July and September, with advance notifications issued for each change. These notices will detail the scheduled dates, what systems are being switched, and any potential impacts. The Water Board will utilize its existing alert systems, including text and email notifications, to keep the public informed. The goal is to ensure that the community experiences minimal disruption during the upgrades. The project reflects a significant investment in local infrastructure aimed at enhancing water service reliability.
