Follansbee, Brooke County, and Weirton police charged multiple individuals over the weekend with offenses ranging from driving under the influence to theft. Christine H. Briggs, 34, was charged with DUI with minors present, while Krista Lackey, 32, also faced DUI charges. Demetria Yost, 46, was arrested for attempting to steal nearly $2,500 worth of merchandise from Wal-Mart, leading to felony theft charges. Authorities reported recovering 128 items from her, including jewelry and tools, after she attempted to flee the store.

In another incident, David Green, 46, was charged with misdemeanor theft for leaving Wal-Mart with a cart full of merchandise valued at approximately $240. Police noted that he returned to the store moments after fleeing, expressing remorse for his actions. Local authorities also addressed reports of suspicious individuals, including a man seen lingering around a residence and a couple allegedly tampering with price tags at Wal-Mart. These incidents reflect ongoing concerns regarding crime in the community, prompting police vigilance.

Weirton man sentenced in sexual abuse case
