Toronto, OHLocal News

Lavocni Brown, 41, was sentenced to a minimum of 16 years in prison for leading a substantial fentanyl and cocaine trafficking operation in the Steubenville area. Jefferson Common Pleas Judge Michelle Miller ordered Brown to forfeit multiple luxury vehicles and $6,540 in cash, deemed proceeds of his illegal activities. He faced six counts of drug possession after the Jefferson County Drug Task Force seized over 18 pounds of cocaine and fentanyl during a raid on properties associated with him and two alleged accomplices. Prosecutor Jane Hanlin emphasized that Brown was a major drug offender, controlling the operation from jail. Authorities reported that Brown continued to direct operations while incarcerated, showcasing the extensive reach of his network.

The case reflects ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking in Jefferson County, where officials have expressed concern over the impact of such operations on community safety. Hanlin specifically praised the work of Sgt. Rob Cook and the Drug Task Force for their diligence in bringing Brown's activities to an end. This ruling serves as a warning to others involved in similar criminal enterprises in the region.
