The Woodlands, TXLocal News

The Houston-Galveston Area Council cautions residents that the 2025 hurricane season may bring more storms than usual, as indicated by NOAA forecasts citing warmer sea surface temperatures. Francis Rodriguez, principal program coordinator at H-GAC, emphasized the critical need for residents to know their evacuation zones and routes, available online. These routes, supported by the Texas Department of Public Safety, ensure safe and efficient evacuations during storms. Rodriguez referenced lessons from past hurricanes, including Hurricane Rita, to highlight the importance of planning ahead. In addition to understanding evacuation procedures, families are urged to prepare emergency kits and develop communication strategies.

The H-GAC Hurricane Preparedness Guide includes evacuation maps, checklists, and resources for vulnerable populations. A Spanish-language version is also available, ensuring inclusivity for the community. Being proactive in preparation can significantly enhance safety during the hurricane season.
