Howard Hughes awards 23 scholarships to local graduates

Howard Hughes awarded 23 scholarships to graduates from high schools in the Greater Houston area, recognizing outstanding students from institutions such as Bridgeland High School and The John Cooper School. This year's recipients also included students from Lone Star College, demonstrating a commitment to education beyond high school. The scholarship program is part of the HHCares initiative, which funds and volunteers for over 160 local causes each year. Since its inception in the 1980s, Howard Hughes has awarded over 500 scholarships to promote educational achievement in the community. President Jim Carman emphasized the company's pride in supporting students as they pursue their educational goals.

Scholarships included honors such as the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Scholarships, awarded to five students in memory of the civil rights leader. The Gerald D. Irons, Sr.

Scholarship was also awarded, highlighting the legacy of a local education advocate. These efforts reflect Howard Hughes' ongoing commitment to fostering higher education and community support.
