From Home Repairs to Keys in Hand, May Marks a Month of Milestones for Habitat for Humanity of Montgomery County

The Woodlands, TXLocal News

Habitat for Humanity of Montgomery County celebrated a month of milestones in May, highlighted by the Rock the Block event where 65 volunteers dedicated over 230 hours to complete 16 home repairs. The organization dedicated a home for Nohelia and Candida, who emigrated from Honduras in 2020, fulfilling their dream of homeownership with the help of Chevron Phillips Chemical. Their four-bedroom home in Cedar Creek represents a new chapter for the family, which includes Nohelia’s two sons. Three additional families also closed on their homes in the Cedar Creek neighborhood, showcasing the organization’s impact on local lives. Executive Director Vicki Johnson emphasized the community's collective effort to provide safe, livable homes.

With only four homes remaining to be built in Cedar Creek, Habitat MCTX is breaking ground on Marble Creek, its next neighborhood project. The organization invites community members to join the Marble Creek capital campaign to support further developments. Habitat MCTX’s efforts reflect a broader commitment to revitalizing neighborhoods and promoting homeownership in Montgomery County.
