Houston Mayor John Whitmire proclaimed March 28, 2025, as "Children’s Safe Harbor Day" during a capital campaign luncheon at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott. The proclamation was presented by City Council Member Twila Carter to Executive Director Dr. Victoria Constance, who highlighted its importance for their mission. The luncheon raised funds for a new 45,000-square-foot facility, set to open in fall 2025, which will nearly double the size of the current advocacy center. Dr.

Constance expressed gratitude for the recognition, stating it affirms their commitment to helping children affected by abuse. Honorees Kim and Robert Marling were acknowledged for their support since 2009, showcasing community involvement in the cause. Children’s Safe Harbor addresses severe physical abuse, sexual assault, and neglect, serving children aged 2 to 17 and their families. The organization operates in Montgomery, Walker, San Jacinto, and Harris counties and is part of a nationwide initiative to heal trauma among abused children. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, it aims to engage the community in its mission of justice and healing.
