Serial Abuser receives Life Sentence in Montgomery County
On February 27, 2025, the trial of Albert Edward Carlson began in Montgomery County, Texas, where he was charged with Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Young Child. The State presented ten witnesses, including three victims, who detailed Carlson's manipulative behavior in grooming young boys for sexual exploitation. Testimonies indicated that Carlson targeted unsupervised children and vulnerable families, twisting religious beliefs to rationalize his actions. Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Detective Joshua Wroten testified about his extensive investigative efforts, which included locating victims and gathering evidence from various jurisdictions. Notably, a retired detective revealed Carlson's history of fleeing the country after a 1985 sexual abuse incident, further demonstrating a longstanding pattern of evasion.
Following the guilty verdict, the jury recommended a life sentence, emphasizing the community's commitment to justice for victims. Assistant District Attorney Jaime Wallace stated there is no place for such offenders in Montgomery County, while District Attorney Brett Ligon praised the courage of the victims and the dedication of law enforcement. The case serves as a strong message that crimes against children will not be tolerated.
