All Hands-on Deck Lowes Red Vest Day transforms Project Beacons Campus
Lowe’s Red Vest Workday brought together over two dozen volunteers to enhance Project Beacon’s campus with a $105,000 grant. The team constructed an Outdoor Classroom and Recreation Area intended to provide neurodiverse adults with calming spaces and hands-on learning experiences. Volunteers undertook various tasks, including power-washing, building storage racks, and creating sensory-friendly picnic tables and garden beds. A memorable moment was the donation of two large-screen TVs, which added to the community spirit of the day. These efforts are part of a larger initiative to ensure Project Beacon remains a fully inclusive environment for individuals with autism and other neurodiversities.
The organization is committed to addressing the educational, vocational, and social needs of the neurodiverse community in Montgomery County, Texas. Lowe’s Hometowns, now in its fourth year, supports nearly 1,800 projects, benefiting millions through various community-focused initiatives. Project Beacon continues to strive towards sustainable solutions that empower neurodiverse individuals to thrive in their community.
