Violent Domestic Abuser sentenced to 50 Years

On November 18, 2025, a Montgomery County jury convicted Patrick Anthony Currie of Assault Family Violence – Strangulation, leading to a 50-year sentence. The incident occurred on October 6, 2024, when deputies responded to a domestic disturbance and discovered Currie had strangled his wife. Despite facing multiple charges, the trial focused solely on the strangulation charge. Currie chose to represent himself, leading to a challenging cross-examination of the victim. The jury took approximately two hours to deliberate before reaching a guilty verdict.

Judge Lisa Michalk noted Currie's extensive criminal background, which included two previous Aggravated Assault convictions. The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Mary Garcia and Chris Wallick, who highlighted the importance of protecting victims. District Attorney Michael Holley praised the victim's bravery, reinforcing the commitment to community safety and accountability for violent offenders.
