Angel Reach awarded grant from the Texas Bar Foundation to support local youth

The Woodlands, TXLocal News

Angel Reach, a nonprofit organization in Montgomery County, received a grant from the Texas Bar Foundation to bolster its “Preparing for a Brighter Future” initiative for youth aging out of foster care. This program ensures compliance with the Chafee Foster Care Program, which requires states to provide necessary vocational training and employment assistance. Dan Alexander, CEO of Angel Reach, highlighted that many participants are unaware of their legal rights and lack essential identification for securing housing and jobs. The initiative offers personalized coaching to help youth obtain identification and navigate available resources, ultimately leading to structured career plans. Since its establishment in 1965, the Texas Bar Foundation has awarded over $30 million in grants, underscoring its commitment to law-related programs.

Angel Reach aims to prevent homelessness and promote independence among foster care alumni aged 16-24. The organization serves not only the youth but also supports kinship families caring for children removed from neglectful homes. These efforts are essential in addressing the challenges faced by vulnerable youth in the community.
