Harris County ESD 11 to host free car seat check

The Woodlands, TXLocal News

Harris County ESD 11 will host a free car seat check event on November 14 from 10 AM to 12 PM at their campus in Spring. Certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians will educate families on the proper installation and usage of car seats to enhance child safety. CEO Jordan Anderson noted that car crashes are a leading cause of death for children in the U. S. , with 43% of fatalities in 2023 involving unrestrained children.

This event addresses the alarming statistic that nearly half of all car seats are misused, potentially putting children at risk. The initiative aims to lower the misuse rate and promote awareness of the lifesaving capabilities of properly used car seats. Harris County ESD 11 partners with Safe Kids of Greater Houston, Texas Children’s Hospital, and Save a Life to serve more families during the event. Participants are encouraged to register online for appointments to ensure their participation. The event reflects the community's commitment to improving child passenger safety and preventing tragic accidents.
