Governor Abbott appoints Mike R. Holley as Montgomery County District Attorney
Governor Greg Abbott appointed Mike R. Holley as the new Montgomery County District Attorney, succeeding Brett Ligon, who resigned after 17 years to run for a Texas Senate seat. Holley has been the First Assistant District Attorney since 2016 and has played a significant role in guiding one of Texas's most respected prosecutor's offices. He is a decorated Army veteran and a board-certified expert in criminal law, bringing more than two decades of experience to his new position. Holley expressed his honor at being appointed and reaffirmed the office's commitment to integrity, accountability, and public safety.
Outgoing District Attorney Ligon praised Holley, stating that his character and dedication make him an ideal choice for the role. Holley's legal career began in the U. S. Army's Judge Advocate General's Corps, where he gained substantial courtroom experience. His leadership is expected to ensure a seamless transition and continued excellence in serving Montgomery County.
The community can expect strong, ethical leadership under Holley's guidance as he steps into this important role.
