The Woodlands, TXLocal News

Montgomery County Food Bank completed its 18,000-square-foot facility expansion, which will allow the organization to distribute an additional 1 million meals annually. With nearly 9 million meals distributed in 2024, the Food Bank addresses the urgent needs of about 100,000 residents facing food insecurity. President and CEO Kristine Marlow stated the expansion represents community collaboration and commitment to fighting hunger. Enhanced volunteer capacity and food sorting capabilities, including a 43% increase in refrigerated space, are key features of the new facility. The expansion was funded through the “Build Today, Feed Tomorrow” campaign, supported by local businesses and individuals, including Huntsman Corporation and ExxonMobil.

Jim Carman, board chairman, highlighted the Food Bank's significance over its 40-year history as a vital resource for the community. A Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on October 28 brought together supporters and community leaders to recognize this accomplishment. The Food Bank is now poised to build a stronger network of support for Montgomery County residents.
