Montgomery County Sheriffs Office Crime Reduction Unit Retail Theft Operation results in Multiple Arrests
On October 30, 2025, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office's Crime Reduction Unit executed an operation targeting retail theft at The Woodlands Mall and Pinecroft Shopping Center. Nine individuals were arrested, including five for felony organized retail theft and four for misdemeanor shoplifting, with approximately $6,000 in stolen merchandise recovered. One of the arrested groups, consisting of two males from California, is linked to a nationwide organized retail fraud network known for coupon scams and fraudulent returns. Meanwhile, a second group of three women, claiming to be Cuban nationals, stole about $3,500 in merchandise from stores including Academy Sports + Outdoors and Nordstrom. The operation was a collaborative effort involving the Gang Unit, District 3 Patrol Hotspot, and various retail loss prevention agents.
