Career Drug Runner sentenced to TDCJ for endangering life of Law Enforcement Officer

Shawn Gollihugh, 46, was convicted in The State of Texas v. Shawn Gollihugh for drug trafficking and endangering law enforcement officers. On June 28, 2023, he attempted to buy 12 kilograms of cocaine in New Caney, TX, not realizing he was dealing with an undercover officer. After the transaction, Gollihugh fled, leading police on a 26-mile high-speed chase, where he reached speeds of 120 mph and crashed into a wall, injuring an officer. The jury found him guilty and determined he used his vehicle as a deadly weapon.

District Attorney Brett Ligon stated the commitment to keeping Montgomery County safe from career criminals like Gollihugh. His lengthy criminal history, with at least four prior vehicle pursuits and nine drug-related offenses, was crucial during the sentencing phase. Gollihugh's case highlights the persistent challenges of drug trafficking and public safety in Texas. Local law enforcement agencies collaborated extensively in the prosecution, underscoring the community's commitment to combating crime.
