26th Annual Woodlands Family YMCA Dragon Boat Team Challenge kicks off

The YMCA Dragon Boat Team Challenge began its 26th annual event on September 25 and will run until September 27 at Northshore Park in The Woodlands. Teams, consisting of 20 to 30 members, compete in 4-hour brackets each day to showcase their skills in dragon boat racing. Each dragon boat measures 40 feet long and weighs over 1,800 pounds, adding to the excitement of the races. This community-focused event promotes teamwork and camaraderie among participating corporations and civic groups. Spectators are invited to attend for free, supporting their favorite teams while enjoying the unique sporting event.

The challenge benefits the YMCA's Annual Campaign, which provides essential programs for families and individuals in the community. For over 40 years, the Woodlands Family YMCA has served as a vital resource, fostering a welcoming environment for all. The event not only celebrates athleticism but also reinforces the YMCA's commitment to community engagement and support.
