Counter Drug Trafficking Operation targets South Montgomery County following Fatal Overdose

A multi-agency investigation in South Montgomery County culminated in the arrest of four individuals on drug trafficking charges. The operation was initiated following a fatal overdose, prompting the Montgomery County Narcotics Enforcement Team (MOCONET) to collaborate with the DEA and local law enforcement. On September 22, 2025, officers executed multiple search warrants in the Tamina Community, resulting in arrests for Otis Smith, Calandra Tartt, Berry King II, and Derrick Russell. The suspects face serious charges, including Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Marijuana. Seized items included Fentanyl, crack cocaine, various THC products, and five firearms.

The operation highlights a growing concern about drug-related incidents in South Montgomery County. Law enforcement aims to deter future drug trafficking through these coordinated efforts. The community's safety and health remain a priority amid rising drug-related fatalities.
