Montgomery County DA and HTI partner to strengthen Local Enforcement response to Human Trafficking
Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office has launched a partnership with the Human Trafficking Institute to strengthen local enforcement against human trafficking and child exploitation. This collaboration aims to enhance the County's capacity to identify victims and prosecute offenders via specialized training and resources. The partnership prioritizes a trauma-informed, victim-centered approach throughout legal processes. A two-day training session held on September 8-9, 2025, provided local law enforcement and prosecutors with critical knowledge on Texas-specific legal frameworks and investigative strategies. District Attorney Brett Ligon stated that the initiative represents a significant investment in protecting vulnerable children.
Montgomery County Sheriff Wesley Doolittle highlighted the importance of equipping deputies with advanced skills to combat trafficking. The program will continue to offer technical training sessions to improve enforcement efforts. As one of the first five counties in Texas to partner with HTI, Montgomery County sets a precedent for local law enforcement initiatives.
