Elementary School Teacher arrested for Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office arrested Rene Jesus Tavera-Arango, 70, for Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child following allegations made by multiple students. Tavera-Arango, an elementary school teacher at Peach Creek Elementary for two years, has a total of 14 years of teaching experience in local school districts. The investigation was launched after the students came forward with allegations of sexual abuse, prompting immediate action from the Special Victims Unit. Currently, he is being held on a $250,000 bond as the investigation continues. The Sheriff’s Office urges anyone with further information or potential victimization to reach out to them directly.

Child safety in educational settings remains a top priority for local authorities. Tavera-Arango’s previous teaching roles include positions at Navasota ISD and Cleveland ISD. The case highlights the importance of vigilance and reporting in protecting children from abuse.
