Montgomery and Walker County residents invited to public meeting for Houston-Galveston Regional Clean Air Action Plan
Residents of Montgomery and Walker Counties are encouraged to join a public meeting on September 3 regarding the Regional Clean Air Action Plan at the Lone Star Convention & Expo Center in Conroe. The Houston-Galveston Area Council aims to gather community input to shape strategies for improving air quality and public health through 2050. Jamila Owens, assistant director of Transportation at H-GAC, highlighted the importance of local perspectives in prioritizing air quality initiatives. For those unable to attend, the Regional Clean, Healthy Communities Air Survey is available online until October 31, 2025, allowing residents to express their opinions on clean air strategies. The survey focuses on various sectors, including transportation and energy, and seeks to identify community-supported solutions.
This comprehensive plan is developed in collaboration with local governments and is backed by a $1 million Climate Pollution Reduction Grant from the U. S. EPA. It aims to build on existing air quality initiatives while providing a structured roadmap for reducing emissions. The meeting offers a pivotal chance for residents to influence long-term environmental policy in their area.
