Three Conroe ISD Students Named Finalists for 2025 I Am Texas Writing and Art Contest

Three Conroe ISD students—April Zhang, Alexander Zhang, and Duke Garner—were named finalists in the 2025 I Am Texas Writing and Art Contest hosted by The Bryan Museum. April Zhang earned recognition for her artwork "American Barn Owl," while Alexander Zhang was noted for "Texas Longhorn," and Duke Garner for "Timeless Gaze. " All finalists will see their works published in the I Am Texas Historian’s Journal and displayed at The Bryan Museum's Student Art Expo from September 26 to November 23. Winners will be announced on September 22, underscoring the significance of this annual competition. The I Am Texas contest encourages students throughout Texas to share their narratives through writing and art.

The program began in 2022 when The Bryan Museum teamed up with iWrite literacy organization, achieving a Guinness World Record for the Largest Published Book. The Bryan Museum, established in 1894, contains over 70,000 artifacts that narrate Texas history and offers various online resources for students. Students in grades 2-12 are invited to submit entries for the 2026 contest, which runs from October 10, 2025, to April 30, 2026.
