The Woodlands Family YMCA Bright Life Program celebrates 15th Anniversary

The Woodlands, TXLocal News

Celebrating its 15th anniversary, the YMCA Bright Life Program provides vital services to adults and teens with intellectual and developmental disabilities in The Woodlands. The program emphasizes independence through life skills training, recreational activities, and community service projects. Lisa Thompson, the program coordinator, founded Bright Life after recognizing a lack of options for young adults transitioning into adulthood. Initially starting with just nine participants, the program has grown significantly to now serve 29 adults and nine teens. A parent highlighted the program's substantial impact on their child's personal growth and sense of community.

The Bright Life Program offers both an Adult Day Program and an After School Program, with the latter currently having available spaces. The program's success is reflected in its ability to foster friendships and provide educational opportunities. Interested individuals can contact Lisa Thompson for more information.
