YMCA After School Care program expanding into Conroe area schools and needs parental input

The Woodlands, TXLocal News

The Woodlands Family YMCA plans to expand its After School Care program into additional Conroe ISD campuses, requiring at least 15-20 students to express interest for each new site. The program, designed to promote active learning and positive social interactions, runs Monday through Friday from school dismissal until 6:30 PM. Parents must complete a survey by September 1st to help determine interest levels in the new locations. Phase I will launch after Labor Day at five elementary schools, with subsequent phases pending licensing and confirmed interest. Current offerings will remain at several existing campuses, including BB Rice and Giesinger Elementary.

The YMCA aims to enhance children's after-school experiences through structured activities that reinforce academic concepts and foster empathy and inclusion. The initiative responds to the needs of families in the Conroe area, demonstrating the YMCA's commitment to community support. This expansion reflects a growing recognition of the importance of after-school programs in children's development.
