Deputies from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office arrested five suspects, including one adult and four juveniles, on August 2, 2025, for their involvement in a major retail theft operation. The apprehension occurred at an Academy store in The Woodlands, where deputies responded to reports of theft in progress. A subsequent search revealed nearly $7,000 worth of stolen merchandise from various local retailers. The adult suspect, 26-year-old Talanda Champagne from Humble, TX, faces charges of Felony Theft alongside the juveniles from Houston and Humble. Investigators are focusing on organized retail theft prevention, as this incident underscores the ongoing challenges local businesses face.
