CenterPoint Energy continues to monitor Invest 93L in northeastern Gulf

The Woodlands, TXLocal News

CenterPoint Energy's Meteorology team actively monitors Invest 93L, which is moving across Florida towards the Gulf. Current weather models predict that the system could develop into a tropical depression or low-end tropical storm before making landfall in Louisiana. Localized flash flooding is possible in the Greater Houston area later this week. To prepare, CenterPoint will mobilize vegetation management workers and coordinate with government officials for effective storm response. The company has a summer storm readiness plan that includes outreach to Critical Care customers and additional call center staffing.

Since Hurricane Beryl, CenterPoint has enhanced its infrastructure, installing over 26,000 storm-resilient poles and undergrounding more than 400 miles of power lines. These improvements aim to reduce the impact of outages and improve restoration times. Matt Lanza confirms that while the likelihood of significant impacts remains low, the company is ready to respond if conditions change.
