The George and Cynthia Woods Mitchell Library turns 20 Years Old this Summer

The George and Cynthia Woods Mitchell Library will celebrate its 20th anniversary on July 30th from 9am to 11am, featuring a special story and craft session with Commissioner Ritch Wheeler. Attendees can enjoy cake, games, and a mini museum with artifacts from the library's 20-year history. Since opening in 2005, the library has served over 53,000 cardholders and has become a cornerstone for early childhood literacy and community programs. The library has expanded its offerings to include interactive playtimes for children, coding workshops for teens, and book clubs for adults. Branch Manager Amber Fritschel highlighted the evolving community bonds, stating that these connections are beginning to span generations.

The library's Friends of the Library group has played a crucial role in supporting various initiatives through fundraising and volunteer efforts. Recognized for its contributions, the library has received several grants and awards, including nominations for national recognition. The library continues to be an essential resource for the community, promoting literacy and lifelong learning.
