UPDATE The Woodlands Firefighter transported by Life Flight after fan injury

Firefighter John Rigoni was seriously injured on June 26, 2025, while performing routine checks on a fire truck at The Woodlands Fire Station 7. He suffered injuries after coming into contact with an overhead ventilation fan and received immediate assistance from fellow firefighters and Harris County Emergency Service District 11. Due to the severity of his injuries, he was airlifted to Memorial Hermann Hospital, where he is currently reported to be in serious but stable condition. Rigoni is expected to be released from the hospital over the weekend, drawing significant community support during his recovery. Local officials, including Montgomery County Judge Mark Keough, have requested prayers for both Rigoni and the fire department.

The Woodlands Township confirmed that established protocols are being followed for on-duty injuries. This incident emphasizes the risks associated with firefighting, even during routine tasks. The Woodlands Fire Department's proactive response and community backing highlight the strong support for first responders in the area.
