The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office investigates a shooting that occurred on June 22, 2025, at approximately 6:15 PM on Laurie Lane in Willis, Texas. The incident left 39-year-old Artis Antonio Mathis deceased at the scene, despite life-saving measures administered by officers and paramedics. The other individual involved, 54-year-old Derrick Lamont Bradford, is currently uncharged, as the District Attorney’s Office prepares to present the case to a grand jury. Detectives from the Sheriff’s Office, along with Crime Scene Investigators and the District Attorney’s Office, are working collaboratively on the case. Authorities have stated that there is no threat to the public, and Bradford is cooperating with detectives.
