City Closures Planned for Juneteenth
Spokane City Hall and various municipal services will close on Juneteenth, June 19, to honor the emancipation of enslaved Black Americans. Spokane Municipal Court, Community Justice Services, and all public library branches will also observe the holiday. On-street parking meters and kiosks will not require payment, but standard time limits will still apply. Garbage, recycling, and food waste services will continue as usual, with the Waste-to-Energy facility and transfer stations open. Additionally, attractions at Riverfront Park, including the Looff Carrousel and Numerica SkyRide, will welcome visitors on Juneteenth.
Spokane City Council will meet on June 23, with sessions available via CityCable 5 and online streaming. Spokane 311 will provide customer service support on the holiday. The city encourages residents to check their blog for upcoming Juneteenth community events.
