City Closures Planned for Juneteenth

Spokane City Hall will close on Juneteenth, June 19, to commemorate the emancipation of enslaved Black Americans, a federal holiday established in 1865. Spokane Municipal Court, Community Justice Services, all public library branches, and the Development Services Center will also be closed on this date. While on-street parking will be free, all parking regulations, including time limits, will still apply. Garbage, recycling, and food & yard waste services will proceed as scheduled, ensuring community needs are met. The Waste-to-Energy facility and Spokane County’s transfer stations will remain open, providing essential waste management services.

Riverfront Park attractions, such as the Looff Carrousel and Numerica Skate Ribbon, will operate normally, offering recreational options for residents. Spokane City Council will convene on June 23, with meetings broadcast on CityCable 5 and streamed online.
