City Closures Planned for Juneteenth

Spokane, WALocal News

Spokane City Hall and various municipal services will close on Juneteenth, June 19, to honor the federal holiday recognizing the emancipation of enslaved Black Americans. Spokane Municipal Court, Community Justice Services, and all Spokane Public Library branches will also be closed on that day. On-street parking meters and kiosks will not require payments, but time limits will still apply. Garbage, recycling, and food waste services will proceed as usual, and the Waste-to-Energy facility will remain open. Attractions at Riverfront Park, including the Numerica SkyRide and Looff Carrousel, will operate normally, along with city golf courses and splash pads.

Spokane City Council will meet on June 23 to discuss city matters, and Spokane 311 will be available for inquiries on Juneteenth. This closure reflects Spokane's commitment to recognizing significant historical events and promoting community awareness. Local residents can find information on upcoming Juneteenth community events in the city’s blog post.
