City Closures Planned for Juneteenth
Spokane City Hall will close on Thursday, June 19, to observe Juneteenth, which commemorates the emancipation of enslaved Black Americans. Other city services, including the Spokane Municipal Court and Community Justice Services, will also close for the holiday. While on-street parking will be free, all parking regulations, including time limits, will remain in effect. Garbage, recycling, and food waste services will operate on a regular schedule, with the Waste-to-Energy facility available to the public. Spokane 311 employees will assist with customer service inquiries by phone or online.
Riverfront Park attractions, such as the Looff Carrousel and Numerica SkyRide, will be open to the public, allowing residents to celebrate the day. Spokane City Council will meet on June 23 to discuss local matters, with meetings streamed online. For further details, community members can check the city’s blog for upcoming Juneteenth events.
