A suspicious brush fire ignited in Spokane's Latah Valley on June 18, 2025, leading to a rapid firefighting response. At around 3:45 p. m. , Battalion 1, while aiding a nearby wildfire, spotted smoke rising in the vicinity of the 2900 block of West Thorpe Road. Firefighters from the Spokane Fire Department, supported by the Washington State Department of Natural Resources and Spokane County Fire District 10, arrived and contained the fire, which burned less than an acre, in just over an hour.

The fire's cause is under investigation, with authorities deeming it suspicious. Investigators are particularly interested in a dark-colored Ford Ranger seen leaving the area shortly after the fire began.
