Crews quickly arrived on West Thorpe Road to find a grass and brush fire burning in a timbered area. Firefighters from the Spokane Fire Department, along with resources from the Washington State Department of Natural Resources and Spokane County Fire District 10, managed to contain the blaze within an hour.

The fire, which was under an acre in size, posed a significant threat due to its proximity to residential areas. The cause of the fire is under investigation and is deemed suspicious. Investigators are specifically seeking information about a dark-colored Ford Ranger seen leaving the vicinity shortly after the fire was reported.
