City Closures Planned for Juneteenth

Spokane, WALocal News

Spokane City Hall will close on Thursday, June 19, in observance of Juneteenth, a federal holiday honoring the emancipation of enslaved Black Americans. Alongside City Hall, the Spokane Municipal Court, Community Justice Services, all Spokane Public Library branches, and the Development Services Center will also be closed for the holiday. While on-street parking meters and kiosks will not require payments, all parking rules, including time limits, will still apply. The Spokane City Council will convene on June 23 for agenda reviews and legislative meetings, which will be broadcast live on CityCable 5 and through online platforms.

Riverfront Park attractions such as the Looff Carrousel, Numerica SkyRide, and the Numerica Skate Ribbon will be open to the public on Juneteenth, providing leisure opportunities for families. Spokane 311 will remain available for customer service inquiries on the holiday. For additional community events related to Juneteenth, residents can refer to the city's blog post.
