Spokane Police Department Statement on June 14 No Kings Demonstration Following Pride Parade

Spokane, WALocal News

Spokane Police Department (SPD) managed a significant protest on June 14, 2025, following the Pride Parade, with an estimated crowd in the thousands. Throughout the day, SPD officers maintained open communication with protest organizers to address safety concerns and facilitate the demonstration. Most participants complied with directives to stay within permitted areas; however, by 8:44 p. m. , tensions rose, prompting SPD to issue dispersal orders due to continued roadway obstructions.

Officers arrested 11 individuals for failure to disperse and used inert smoke and pepper balls to encourage compliance. SPD clarified that there was no curfew in effect that night and did not mandate evacuations at River Park Square Mall. Spokane Pride Executive Director Matthew Danielson praised the collaboration with SPD to ensure a safe event. Chief Kevin Hall emphasized the importance of balancing the right to peaceful protest with the safety of the community. SPD will continue to review its actions to maintain professionalism and accountability.
