City Closures Planned for Juneteenth

Spokane City Hall will close on Juneteenth, June 19, to honor the emancipation of enslaved Black Americans. Spokane Municipal Court, Community Justice Services, and all Spokane Public Library branches will also close. On-street parking meters will not require payment, but all parking rules, including time limits, will still apply. Spokane 311 will be available for customer service inquiries, while garbage, recycling, and food waste services will proceed as usual. Riverfront Park attractions, including the Looff Carrousel and Numerica SkyRide, will remain open, along with city golf courses and splash pads.

Spokane City Council is scheduled to meet on June 23 at 3:30 p. m. for an agenda review and a legislative meeting at 6 p. m. The Waste-to-Energy facility and Spokane County’s transfer stations will operate normally.

Juneteenth commemorates a significant moment in U. S. history, reflecting ongoing efforts toward racial equity.
